INGREDIENTS
  • 1 ½ cup Plainflour

  • 3 tbsp Coco powder

  • 1 tsp Baking soda

  • 1 cup Sugar

  • 1 cup Water

  • ¼ tsp Salt

  • ¼ cup Oil

  • 1 tbsp Vinegar/Lemon juice

  • ½ tbsp Vanilla essence / extract

INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Pre heat the oven to 180° C. Mix the plain flour, coco powder and baking soda and sieve them to ensure even mixing. Keep aside.

  2. Mix water, sugar and make sure the sugar gets dissolved and then add , salt, vinegar, oil and vanilla essence and mix well.

  3. Add the sifted flour (one poon at a time) and mix well. Grease a baking pan with oil and place baking paper, then pour the batter to it. 

  4. Bake for 35 – 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the centre of the cake comes out dry. Note, baking time may vary depending on the quantity of the batter (10-15 minutes for cupcakes, 70-80 minutes for double quantity in a single deep baking tray)

  5. After done, cool down the cake for 10-15 minutes and then invert on a wire rack. Let it cool completely.

  6. Decorate it with chocolate ganache or icing of your choice.

NOTES
  • Smaller circumference but tall cake tin, cooking time will increase so that the centre of the cake can cook.

  • Do not invert cake immediately. Wait until it is completely cooled.
