Chocolate Coconut Truffle

This is a great recipe to introduce kids to making food and building their confidence in the kitchen or a fun holiday project. Requires simple tools like a mixing bowl, wooden spoon, ziplock bag, and a rolling pin.

Although it may sound like kids will love these the most, let me give you an insider secret, adults are more likely to get hooked on to these irresistible truffles.

Have these as a snack or as an after meal sweet craving satisfier. Pack them in lunch boxes or serve as a party treat.

EQUIPMENT
  • Rolling Pin

  • Zip lock bag

  • Mixing bowl

  • Measuring spoon / ice-cream scoop

INGREDIENTS
  • 250 g Marie/Maria biscuits (any other plain sweet biscuit)

  • ⅓ cup Cocoa powder (adjust the cocoa quantity as per your taste)

  • 1 cup Desiccated Coconut

  • 395 g Sweetened Condensed Milk

  • 1 cup desiccated coconut, additional for rolling

INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Place Marie biscuits in the zip lock bag. Remove any air from the bag and seal the bag. With help of a rolling pin crush the biscuits by beating or rolling action.

  2. Add all the ingredients (crushed biscuits, desiccated coconut, cocoa powder, and condensed milk) in a mixing bowl.

  3. Mix all the ingredients with the help of a wooden spoon or your hands.

  4. Grease your palms

  5. To make even size truffle balls, use a spoon or ice cream scoop to measure an equal amount of mixture. Ensure you fill the scoop completely and level it by removing any excess from the top of the scoop.

  6. Drop the mixture from scoop onto your greased palm and roll it into balls.

  7. Spread desiccated coconut on a flat plate/tray.

  8. Place freshly rolled truffles on desiccated coconut and roll. Due to the stickiness of truffles, coconut will stick to the surface of the truffle balls.

  9. Repeat this with the rest of the truffle balls and place them on another clean tray.

  10. Place tray of rolled truffle balls covered with desiccated coconut in the fridge to set for an hour.

  11. Store it in an airtight container in the fridge.

NOTES
  • Check my post for other options and details.

  • No cooking involved!

  • Ensure to remove air from the ziplock bag to prevent it from bursting while crushing biscuits.

  • Do not over crush biscuits. Little chunks of biscuits give a crunchy bite to the truffles.

  • Refer to the post for all the making photos and additional recipe tips.
